Exporting as MP4 from iMovie

Page history last edited by Grace 1 yr ago

These are instructions for exporting a finished movie project as an mp4.  We use mp4-formatted versions for posting on the web or publishing as a podcast.

When finished with a project in iMovie, go to the "Share" menu.  Choose "export using Quicktime."  If it's a small window that opens, expand it by clicking on the large down arrow.

In the export menu, choose "movie to mpeg4."  Click "options."

Pull down "File Format" menu.  Chose MP4 (top option).  Under "video format," choose H.264.  For "frame rate," choose "current."

Don't change any other options that you see here, but click on the "audio" tab at top to change one of the audio settings.  When audio opens, choose 96 kbps for data rate.

Now click "OK" and you are back to the original dialog box.  Name your file "lastnametitle" and save it to the proper place (depends on project).
