Anna, need wall posts and updates on the Siren FB page.   Don't forget -- by Fri., get submission from classmate!

Abby, I added a bunch of stuff to the ladder, mostly from courtney cannon. She said that its ok if only a piece or two go up on the site. you can look through and decide whats best to go up.

-thanks, love alex

Ms. Hodge: Noria McCarther said that she was going to submit something to the Siren, however she needed the weekend to clean up a few things. Is that okay? Do I need to find someone who can submit something tomorrow?

-Tierney

Ms. H

I am having problems with my flash drive and computer again, it's not letting me read the content of my flash drive. It should still be saved as an rtf file, but it could have changed. How can I get my flash drives and computer compatiable?

Mon. 10/19 - Tues. 10/20

Yippee -- Siren is now launched!   We have a lot of views (really, we do, only about half of them are me trying to test things like dead links). Congratulations everybody on your hard work!! :)

Media review is due Friday

see Tierney's messages below

Here, ladies: http://ndsdigitalmedia.pbworks.com/powell_shortstory_roughdraft

thanks so, so, so much

Sinead, two comments have now been submitted.  VERY POSITIVE.  Woo hoo!  Let's get those up.

Tierney, add a link to your story in your posting so that we can find it easily.

Mon. 10/12 - Fri. 10/16

Fri:  Sorry I can't be here, but I'm sick today.  We should still be ready to launch the new Siren on Mon. afternoon if all goes well.

Update:  I've called and emailed, but no one seems available to unlock the cabinet.  May have to do w/o equipment.

Please note:

--You may still make changes to contracts if you need to, but please do it by end of day today.  We'll meet on those next week.

--Your media review is due TUESDAY.  Please abide by the same guidelines as last time, except that this one must be at least 400 words.  Check out comments from last review and try to improve with this one.  Email me with any questions.

Notes to specific staffers on things that need to be done today:

  • Alex: take Rebel down to Mrs. Blasdel's room and shoot pictures of two collages -- she will tell you which ones. Label like this "lastname_collage" and place in visual arts submission folder.  Next please take a few more pics of Abby's bug from different angles.  She can make suggestions.  Get those loaded, too.  If you haven't already submitted some of your other photos, please do this as well.  Add these things to the ladder.  Sinead or any other returning staffer can help you with the ladder if nec.
  • Sinead:  A few reminders for you.  Be sure to give credit to Abby and others who helped with collages.  Also, give credit to photographers on staffer profiles page.  Add archive links and call for submissions on nonfiction page.  Look for multiple pictures and text for Abby's bug; also, there is a piece of text in the photography submission folder from Alex to be posted with her photo essay.  Alex will be adding photos of two collages that can be added to the visual arts page.  They do not have titles, but I have an assignment description from Mrs. Blasdel scanned, which is broken into 4 pgs: 1,2,3,4 ; please post these pages with the images.
  • Emily R.:  Update the ladder if your story is loaded and ready.
  • Anna:  We need a big publicity push starting Monday.  Please get as many ideas as possible ready to execute.  Other staffers not on the team may be able to help with this. Also   I recommend that you take home books on shooting movies to study.  Filmmaking For Teens: Pulling Off Your Shorts would be a good one for what you are doing.  Please indicate titles you take in a note to me on the message board.

Study models and resources in preparation for your quarter work.

Media review is due Tuesday 10/20.

Anna--I was thinking that we could make posters that are shaped like whatever theme we have this year for the siren. Last year, I know they did a lot of robots and we could either continue that or come up with something new. In any event, I think we should make large posters that are shaped (like robots) to draw attention!

               -Tierney

Hey ladies! I have a rough draft of my second quarter short story up. If you have time, I would love to get some feedback!

Loooove, Tierney

Tues.

10/6 - Fri. 10/9

A look at 2nd quarter contract template.

If you have not yet added your two resource additions to the wiki for 1st quarter (see contract), you may do this by the end of this week with no penalty.

In-class sharing and peer review for first quarter mini projects

2nd quarter contract must be filled out by Tuesday 10/13.  Name your document "lastname_secondquarter." Create your document from the template "second_quarter_contract."  Place it in the folder labeled "SecondQuarterContracts."

Take time with your contract -- consult your own lineup of commitments carefully, and consider what your project will involve.   Any major changes to the scope or nature of your project after contract has been signed will result in a major deduction to your grade.

Please study other deadlines on contract template; mark your calendar / planner (Siren calendar to be updated soon).

Please see that you are using Safari or another browser to create and update wiki pages.  We are continuing to see problems with Firefox and formatting on the wiki.

Hey Sara!

If Emily's poem is completely edited would you please put it in the Finished Work Folder! :)

Thanks !

Sinead

Anna,

Would you please move your Siren staffer pictures to the Siren network?  You can put them in the stock photos folder.
