iDVD 2008
Putting media onto iDVD:
Note: Before making dvd, share movie project in iMovie. From Share menu, select "share using media browser." Select the largest option. This will take some time -- perhaps as long as 30 minutes. Once you've done this, your movie will show up in the media browser in the iDvd application.
1. Select iDVD in your applications or on your dock.
2. Select create new project, give the project a name, and select create.
*Keep aspect ratio at standard unless you created a iMovie project using the widescreen ratio.
3. Make sure you have shared your media within iMovie and then on the bottom select Media.
4. At the top select movies, click within the drop menu your saved project.
5. On the bottom left side select the plus sign that means add media and select the choice add movie.
6. Select your movie, click and drag into the space marked Add Movie Here.
*If you want to change the click once (the words will be selected) and the delete and type in your desired title.
7. Double click your title and the iDVD player will be opened and playing your media. To exit either hit stop or hit exit.
Personalizing your DVD:
If you want to personalize your DVD (ex. your theme, audio, or adding slideshows/ pictures) select theme and choose your preferred theme. Then to add a picture for the title slide click media once again, choose photos, and click and drag the desired photo into the drop zone. Do the same for audio except choose audio instead and choose garageband or itunes. To add a slideshow select add media and choose add slideshow and repeat steps for adding your movie.
Burning your DVD:
1. Click Project and choose project info.
2. Keep all settings the same except change the title of your DVD.
*If your DVD is over an hour under encoding select performance quality.
3. Exit the window and now it's time to burn your DVD!
4. Select burn DVD and iDVD will prompt you to insert a blank disk.
5. It will take a while especially if you have a longer video, but if you want more than one copy the next ones will take less time and iDVD will "spit" out the finished copies and prompt to insert another copy.
iDVD creates DVD that plays on most DVD players and when under project info selecting single layer for DVD type will allow the DVD to be played on more DVD players.
