Samantha Cocks

Senior Samantha Cocks is now entering her second year on the Siren staff. She enjoys going to the lake that is so conveniently located in her backyard; she has also begun her fourth year on the Varsity Sion swim team. She enjoys listening to music, such as Third Eye Blind and The Maine, and loves making music - something she hopes she can continue.

Sara Smith

Sara Smith is a senior who loves writing and editing, as well as reading. She rarely will be seen without a book in her hands. She has been involved with piano and voice for several years and enjoys virtually any kind of music, except country. Hobbies include any outdoor activities, taking pictures, and art. Her favorite subject is English, and favorite authors include Tim O'Brien, Ray Bradbury, and Ernest Hemingway. This is her first year on the Siren.

Emily Santiago

Senior Emily Santiago is currently working on her second year as a Siren staff member. She loves to write and her focus is mainly poetry. Her favorite poets are Mary Oliver and Shakespeare. She has just discovered the brilliance of adding sprinkles to any food item. She is intrigued by the idea of meditating to soothing yoga music and twisting her body up in various ways. She enjoys a spot of tea and a brisk evening walk outside.

Kalyn Valliere

Senior Kalyn Valliere spends most of her time designing and constructing garments, as well as listening to music and discovering new artists. You can find her often wandering Kansas City and exploring new places. She enjoys being outside, and spends a decent amount of time sitting at Broadway CafĂ© with the locals. Kalyn loves discovering what Kansas City has to offer, fashion-wise. Crossroads is one of her favorite places to wander-- especially in the boutiques and galleries.

Alex Tait

This is Alex's first year on the Siren staff.  She hasn't played a sport since 5th grade, around the same time she realized that photography tickled her fancy.  She taught herself how to use chopsticks, though she has never tried sushi.  She has 3 hermit crabs named "hh" (the sound of air), HandBanana, and *fart noise*.

Meleeya Schwartz

Junior, Meleeya Schwartz is a newcomer to the Siren. When she is not hanging out with her friends, she can be found enthralled in an episode of Gilmore Girls, which has become an obsession of hers. Outside of school, she can be seen having picnics on the median of Ward Parkway, learning Yiddish, and rocking out to 80's music and Avenue Q. She is commonly referred to as "the Jew" by her friends, which she finds completely amusing. Because of her 6 cats, her motto is "No outfit is complete without cat hair!"

Anna Selle

Anna Selle, a junior, has a crazy passion for photography, literature, and music. You can often find her, earbuds in, rocking out to The Shins, Vampire Weekend, Peter Bjorn and John, or a wide number of indie rock bands, but not exclusively. She'll read anything from Beowulf to Fitzgerald to O'Brien and will rather enjoy the process. She's taken a particular likely to the wonderful art of photography, and shoots with a Canon Rebel XSi lovingly nicknamed the Millenium Falcon.

Emily Reeb

Senior Emily Reeb is joining The Siren staff for a second term this year. She currently enjoys cheerleading, writing, belly dancing, and sleeping. But that could change at a moment's notice, considering she has been known to change her mind at the very last minute. When Emily is not obssessivly stalking her friends, you can find her in an park doing a number of things including taking pictures, having intense staring contests with inanimate objects, dancing on tables in the dorkiest way possible, singing to her favorite musical Rent, or jumping out of shrubbery and making a total fool of herself.

Abby Wilson

Junior Abby Wilson enjoys making desserts and forcing them on other people more than almost anything else. She has the habit of talking louder and LOUDER when she gets excited, and she can't seem to talk at all without using her hands. Abby's favorite things: gelato, shopping, animals, art, movies, and music. Abby's least favorite things: zucchini and changing the cat box. This year, she is looking forward to starting Sion's (and possibly the world's) first Pickleball Club! Pickleball Club today; Tininkling Club tomorrow... look it up.

Tierney Powell

Senior Tierney Powell, a shaved ice savant, finds herself engaging in prank phone calls at an age much too old to do so. When she is not juggling several extra-curricular activities during the school year, Tierney works at Zeke's Tropical Sno Kingdom in Martin City. She has recently discovered that her flavor of the day bulletins have collected a small fan base! Tierney also enjoys composing her own "supa-fly" raps (ending every rap with her gangsta signature "Tpain Out,") shopping in Westport and ordering Sticky Hickeys at Foo's Frozen Custard in Leahood (Frozen desserts are QUITE apparently her calling!)

Sinead McDonough

Senior Sinead McDonough, master of the web, is excited about her second year on the Siren staff, where she hopes to design and upload the greatest web page ever created.  Some things she likes are drinking coffee, watching Conan, and going to concerts.  She can also be found 3 days a week obediently watching and reacting to the latest episode of "Big Brother," her guilty t.v. pleasure.

Ms. Hodge-Childers

Ms. Hodge is terribly pleased to be working with such a motley crew of burgeoning artistic geniuses that make up the Siren team.  Evenings and weekends she can occasionally be found shamelessly consuming mass media such as NBC's "Glee," which makes her excited all over again about being an artsy, nerdy type.   She is also enjoying a renewed interest in the literature of her childhood, particularly the works of Louise Fitzhugh.
